House Sitting Conference - Travel Longer For Less

Many thanks for your interest in speaking at the first-ever House & Pet Sitting Conference.

Please read on for some introductory information on the types of speakers we are looking for, and to complete your application below.

The audience at the conference will be around 200 people, mostly consisting of people with little or no knowledge of house sitting, or at a very early stage of their house sitting adventure.

The conference has three goals we’d like to fulfil for this audience:

  • Inspire
  • Inform
  • Educate

We feel we have the “educate” category well covered, so we are looking for people who can inspire and inform newcomers. We would hope to offer speakers one or two opportunities to speak. One talk would be a longer one to “inform”, and a much shorter talk to “inspire”.

If you can add in a bit of “entertain” too that would be a bonus.

Our “inspire” talks will be short and punchy. 5 to 8 mins maximum. The goal is simple – be inspirational!

These could be presented by an individual, as a couple, or maybe even as a family.

  • What is your story?
  • How did you get into house sitting?
  • How has it changed your life?
  • Where have you been?
  • What have you seen?
  • What is the best thing about house sitting?
  • What are your future plans?
  • Do you have a home base?
  • How much “stuff” do you own?
  • Anything else you have to share about your amazing lifestyle.

This can be accompanied by a few images to illustrate the incredible life you live.

These talks will be longer, more like 15 to 18 mins. The goal will be to share some useful information on a topic closely linked to the house sitting lifestyle.

You could share your message via relating a more in-depth part of your story, and linking it the info you want to share, or be more instructional. The choice is yours.

The talk can be accompanied by pictures and slides.

Obviously there shouldn’t be too much overlap with the “inspire” talk if you would like to do one of those too.

Evaluate your "special message". Consider what it is that you have to say that is of value to others. In order to succeed as a motivational speaker, your message must be connected to the needs and aspirations of your audience.
